Martin Mears

Martin is a graduate of Wadham college Oxford. He has practised in the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston area since 1967. He is an accomplished lawyer in all fields and a highly respected advocate. Martin is a regular columnist and contributor to national, local and legal presses and a former President of The Law Society.

Chris Hobbs

Chris has practised in Lowestoft since 1971. He has been instrumental in the development of the Lowestoft office of the firm. Chris is highly regarded for his expertise in almost all fields of non-contentious work but particularly his encyclopaedic knowledge of property law. Chris is now semi-retired and enjoys regular visits to France. He has recently qualified as a bricklayer.

John SwanburyJohn Swanbury - Mears Hobbs & Durrant

John has been practising in North Suffolk since 1973 following articles in Middle Temple. He has been in charge of the Beccles office of the firm since 1982. John deals with all types of non-contentious work and is well respected as a meticulous yet commercially acute domestic and business conveyancer. John is a keen amateur competitive cyclist. Happily he rarely wears lycra shorts in the office.

Peter BrittenPeter Britten - Mears Hobbs and Durrant

Peter has been with Mears Hobbs and Durrant since 1982 and is in charge of management of the Lowestoft office. His practice is mainly commercial and includes business acquisitions, property and licensing. Peter has a long established devoted client base who regularly reinstruct him. Peter is a former Territorial Army officer and is accustomed to shooting from the hip.

Angus LyonAngus Lyon - Mears Hobbs and Durrant

Angus qualified as a solicitor in 1980 and has been a partner at Mears Hobbs & Durrant since 1987. He is a dedicated personal injury lawyer specialising in complex compensation claims and medical negligence cases. He is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel. Angus dreams of a retirement spent playing Jazz guitar in smoky underground clubs.

Kevin DobsonKevin Dobson - Mears Hobbs and Durrant

Kevin joined the legal profession in 1988 and became a partner with Mears Hobbs & Durrant in 1996. His special interests are in civil and commercial litigation although he also maintains a client base of private client family work particularly dealing with medium to high value divorce cases. To his own amazement Kevin still plays rugby despite his advancing years.
